Mystery Can at work

Today's mystery involves a suspicious tin sitting on my office-mate's desk. It's not some weird military secret, I know that much. It's about two inches high, and about six inches in diameter. It has a fancy lable, on which is written "Cou de Canard Farci."

Don't worry. I know enough French to know what that means. The mystery is not what's inside the can; what I don't understand is why in frink does my office-mate have a can of stuffed duck necks sitting on his desk??

Is it his lunch? He better not be eating his lunch at his desk is all I can say. Dear lord I don't want to know what canned duck necks smell like. Not when they're stuffed with more duck parts, pork, foie gras, eggs, poultry of an unspecified nature, and spices. Oh, and the ingredients list also assures us that the skin has been left on.

Is it something he brought in to show the other summer students? "Oh, aren't we Frenchmen so silly with our ridiculous foods that only other Frenchmen would eat!"

Is it a romantic and/or friendly gesture to my other office-mate? "We've spent all summer working together, enjoying our lunch breaks together. Please accept these miscellaneous animal byproducts as a symbol of my feelings towards you."

Or did my other office-mate buy it for him? "I know you have been missing your native country a lot lately, so here's something that will remind you that France ain't all perfume and wine. And if this don't fix your homesickness, I swear the next thing will be something involving sheep brains."

I think the only way of solving this is to ask them.

Your welcome. Entertaining anonymous internet strangers is the raison d'etre of this journal de web (I assume that this means the French word for "blog" is "jeb".) The interesting thing about this entry is that it contained 100% fact.
